It has been my dream for over 20 years to create a place, a Very Special Place where misunderstood, rejected, no longer wanted German Shepherd Dogs get a chance to heal and become happy again.
There are many hard working and caring people who work with foster homes and many homeless dogs are given a second chance there...
But what happens to German Shepherd Dogs who through inappropriate care or no care at all, become emotionally scarred and require time and a safe place to heal? Very, very few people have necessary experience, facilities and desire to safely foster those dogs, to give them that second chance, chance to reconnect with themselves and become whole and happy again... Those dogs get labeled unadoptable... Unadoptable dogs have no value to shelters and no value to many dog rescues... It is not only difficult to sell those dogs as pets, but they become liability and as result simply misunderstood, mistreated, unhappy German Shepherd Dogs get killed both in shelters & rescues in great numbers...
Only very few of those 'problem' dogs can be rehabilitated in a crowded city because of safety and bylaws restrictions...
 . Therefore, with help of other DREAMERS we purchased 22 acres out in the country. In Trent Hills to be exact... We have 10 acres of flat field perfect for off leash running, Agility Course and training field... We also have over 5 acres of woods with a small creek & fresh water spring, rabbits, deer, wild turkeys, minks, frogs and snakes ... A dog's paradise...
There are also some old farm buildings... dilapidated...? Yes, but able to temporarily house the dogs safely and protect them from elements until we convert the buildings into more appropriate accommodations...
And here where we and German Shepherd Dogs in our care need your help...
We need to clean, repair, modernize and convert the buildings... We need to fully fence in all 22 acres ... We need more people to help with ongoing basic grounds maintenance like cutting grass... We need volunteers to meet and interact with our dogs...
