Over a jump So, I want my dog to do something... whatever that is is not really important...
There are two basic approaches to make the dog do what I want... Let me tell you the story to illustrate those two distinctly different approaches: Once upon the time, the SUN and the WIND started to argue which one of them was more powerful than the other... 'I can melt the ice, can you?' SUN said. 'But I can break that tall tree in half, can you? said the WIND. They continued to argue when they saw a man walking down the road, whistling happily, enjoying the first spring day... The man was wearing a nice brown coat... The WIND exclaimed: This will be the test... whoever takes the coat off this man faster is a WINNER... I'll go first...
The WIND started blowing... he grabbed the coat... he ripped it this way and then that way... The man stopped whistling, he pulled the coat tighter and buttoned up all the buttons... the WIND continued to jerk the coat, attempting harder and harder to take the coat off the man's back; but harder it blew the tighter the man was holding on to his coat... his walk was faster now and he even tightened up the belt... Finally the WIND gave up... It was SUN's turn... SUN looked at the man down below and smiled... and while the SUN continued to smile the man looked around and his pace slowed down... within few moments the man stopped and wiped his brows and then started to unbutton his coat.... While the WIND watched in disbelief and the SUN continued to smile, the man stopped again and this time OFF went his coat... and the man happily resumed his whistling tune... Yes, I can make the dog do what I want him to do by physically compelling the dog to comply and often I will be more successful than the WIND in the above story... However, I can also use my human leadership skills and 'create', like the SUN, an environment in which the dog is going to do exactly what I want him to do... It is up to me to choose which method to use... Anna Discussbot message: It appears your discussbot is configured to use Board ID numbers, but "What do you think..." does not seem to be a number.
