It has been my dream for over 20 years to create a place, a Very Special Place where misunderstood, rejected, no longer wanted German Shepherd Dogs get a chance to heal and become happy again. There are many hard working and caring people who work with foster homes and many homeless dogs are given a second chance there... But what happens to German Shepherd Dogs who through inappropriate care or no care at all, become emotionally scarred and require time and a safe place to heal? Very, very few people have necessary experience, facilities and desire to safely foster those dogs, to give them that second chance, chance to reconnect with themselves and become whole and happy again... Those dogs get labeled unadoptable... Unadoptable dogs have no value to shelters and no value to many dog rescues... It is not only difficult to sell those dogs as pets, but they become liability and as result simply misunderstood, mistreated, unhappy German Shepherd Dogs get killed both in shelters & rescues in great numbers... |

Copyright June, 2000 - 2007 Reprinted with the author's kind permission What started as an ordinary interest in and liking for German Shepherd Dogs has become an obsession to understand the marvelous character of the working German Shepherd Dog because its versatility and greatness seems to surpass all the rest. My search for understanding has been greatly illuminated by Schutzhund training. Through it and the people I have met in Schutzhund, I have gained access to an ever-widening literature and videos about working dogs, especially German Shepherd Dogs. |

"When I'm not doing something that comes deeply from me, I get bored. When I get bored I get distracted and when I get distracted, I become depressed. It's a natural resistance, and it insures your integrity."

Blue Buffalo Dog Food
Blue Buffalo is one of the best, if not THE BEST pet food companies out there. They are American made and do not have corn, wheat or soy in their food. They have three different wilderness options to choose from, a whole line of small breed and large breed foods, so your pets have protein options, which is very important. You need to switch protein sources every once in a while. We change every 4 months, some people like every 6. I say do what works for you but do NOT feed the same food for over 6 months. Your pet can develop sensitivities and allergies to an ingredient, so you need to change it up. Check out this to confirm that statement: http://www.addictionfoods.com/resources/RotationFeeding.pdfPeople who complain about their dogs getting sick are probably switching foods too fast. Every dog is different, we have 6 dogs, and some HAVE to switch foods slower than others. I can change some dogs over to a new/different protein source in 2-3 days and other dogs I switch slower over a week or two because they have issues. Science Diet is a terrible food. Anyone to has tried Blue Buffalo and did NOT give their dog a chance to adjust to the food and then returns to SD is just doing their pet a HUGE injustice. Feeding a food like SD that has NO good meat protein source, is full of corn, soy and other non nutritious ingredients is NOT healthy for your pets. I don’t care what your vet says, GET ANOTHER VET! I use a holistic vet and she only recommends foods that do not contain corn, wheat or soy. I will not use a vet that sells SD in their clinic because if they do not know basic nutrition information, how can they be medically competent? Give Blue Buffalo food a really GOOD try and then comment. Have your medium size dog go through a 30 lb bag, or have your small dog go through a 15 lb bag. If they are still having loose stool after 3-4 weeks, or a full bag, then their may be a protein or other ingredient that they have issues with. There is NO MIRACLE FOOD for every dog! They are all different just like we are! If the chicken doesn’t work for your dog, try the lamb or fish. The have a limited ingredient diet now called Blue Basics, give that a try if have issues with the regular food. I hope that this info helps. I love my pets, and I have used other premium brands and I like them as well, but I think that Blue is the best.
